Why I started an Art Stream

I grew up wanting to be an animator, and ended up in film school around the turn of the century. I’ve always been interested in animation, film, and video, and how to create them. Due to uterine fibroids, which is a debilitating health issue that took me out more times than I can count, I didn’t actively pursue those avenues.

What Changed?

I had stopped drawing for 20 years during this time, crocheted and knitted and even opened a fiber arts Etsy shop in the early 2000s before returning to drawing in 2016.

I moved in with my now husband and had more time. I wanted to share what I’ve learned and create a community. I started on Instagram, but that was when it was 1 hour max, which I disliked.

Then through wanting to watch WWE2K game play (I don’t remember which one?) I learned about Twitch. At first I thought it was only for gamers, then I was suggested an artist to watch. That blew my mind. I needed to see more, and what are these cute pictures I’m seeing posted in the chat (emotes). What are these sounds (alerts). It was an amazing experience. I was inspired and wanted to do the same. It took me a little while but I started streaming on Twitch on Jan. 4, 2022.

It incorporates everything I enjoy. Art, editing, animation, writing, gaming, and hanging with fun people.

Are you a Twitch viewer? Who are your favorite art streamers?
