Streaming to 0-3 Viewers Isn’t a Bad Thing…Really!

I’ve seen so much advice about this and from someone that has streamed to 1 person, to 300+ the next day, to 1 person again, then 10, to 1 for many months, and back up again it’s not you.

There are so many factors that come into this that you may not know. But first. . .

Embrace the Cozy

0-3 viewers makes for a really cozy community. Some viewers prefer this over dozens of viewers. So, as you grow, don’t take this time for granted. Learn about your community and lean into the time you have to actually talk to them. Ever been in a popular streamers chat? It’s great, however even talking with another chatter it can easily get lost. Neither are bad things just different. Be grateful for where you are at the moment.

CCV and Max Viewers

CCV means concurrent viewership. Max Viewers are the greatest amount of viewers that have watched you during your stream.

How does Twitch figure out your CCV? Every several minutes it takes the number of people watching you. When you end your stream, they take the average of those numbers.

Does it really matter? Yes and no. While you’re actively streaming it doesn’t matter. Don’t look at your viewer numbers. It will just make you anxious. Plus, if you keep looking at your number you aren’t focusing on what you’re supposed to be doing, which is pay attention to your viewers and what you are streaming.

When it does matter is after you’re done streaming and only on rare occasions.

Off Stream

Watch your VOD

Skim through it to see if YOU would watch your stream, and this is when you will see if there are any tech issues on your part that you didn’t know about. Make a list of pros and cons from an objective stand point. Take those results and make some. . .

SMART Goals

Once a month or every couple months check Twitch Tracker. Take this as info to grow on. Look at your statistic chart and you will see growth. It’s slow and steady, which is a great thing. Don’t count yourself out yet!

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound!

After stream, maybe once a week, once a month, or once every quarter, look at your average. Look back and see what worked for you and what didn’t. What can you put towards your SMART Goals?

Visibility

Finally, people don’t know you exist. Don’t take it personally. Visibility is up to you.

You might be asking why you received 14 max viewers but only 1 CCV. Simply put, they didn’t stay. You may not have been those viewers’ vibe. They may have had to leave. Your goal is figure out how to retain the viewers that match your vibe if you want to keep them.

Think of ads and how many times you’re seen any particular one per day. Post and post some more. I’m still working on this myself. It’s not my forte but I’m learning and growing. You should too. If you want viewers, go find them. They aren’t going to walk up to you without some type of assistance. Day to Day embrace those that show up!

Q: It’s one thing to create goals but sometimes you need to learn to make those goals obtainable. What are some goals you are striving for?
